Description
On December 31, 1831, there were 3,517 working “filles publiques”.
Of this 3,517, there were:
931 from Paris and the Seine department,
2,170 from all other departments,
134 from foreign countries, and
282 who could not provide their birth certificate, and were not legally recognized.
Table 1: shows the precise age of those in the first three categories
Table 2: shows the age when each of the those for which we could obtain information was inscribed in the register of prostitutes
Table 3: shows how long they have been working as a prostitute in the city of Paris.
